Chicago Fury Crowned Connor 11U Division Champions with a Striking Win
The Chicago Fury delivered a stellar performance to defeat the Ohio AAA Bluejackets 5-2 in the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League 11U Connor Division Championship game on December 15 at Tittle Brothers Construction Arena. A dynamic offensive display and solid goaltending secured the Fury the title.
The Jackets struck first, with a goal from Vincent Machi (#25) off assists by Liam Carroll (#88) and Cooper Smith (#34). However, the Fury’s answered back quickly when Kamden Pfieffer (#55) found the back of the net, assisted by Ethan Wielgus (#29). Henry Pummer (#5) quickly added two goals, with Lucas Liu (#91) and Anthony Plude (#9) providing the setup on both tallies, giving Chicago a 3-1 lead heading into the final period.
In the third period, the Fury pushed to a 4-1 lead with a goal from Maxim Gospodaru (#11) scored with help from Wielgus. Ohio’s John Arvai closed the gap with assists from Nolan Sprague and Ben Carlson. But the Fury’s Ryan Pisterzi (#95), finished the contest with a unassisted tally to conclude the game 5-2 in the Fury’s favor.
Fury goaltender Braxton Paszko (#1) stood tall in net, making 25 saves on 27 shots, while his teammates maintained a steady offensive pace, outshooting Ohio in the critical moments. Despite a valiant effort by Ohio’s Hunter Baxendell (#29), who faced 23 shots, Chicago’s firepower proved too much.
