Indiana Elite Secures Championship in Shootout Thriller Against Chicago Fury, 13O Slavin Division
The Tier 1 Elite Hockey League 13O Slavin Division championship delivered a nail-biting finish as the Indiana Elite edged the Chicago Fury 3-2 in a dramatic shootout at Belle Tire Arena on December 8.
Chicago Fury struck early, with Sebastian Magnusson (#61) lighting the lamp just 19 seconds into the game, assisted by Walter Slanicky (#71) and Patrick Kolozsy (#11). Magnusson doubled the lead in the second period, showing his offensive prowess again with help from Kolozsy.
Indiana Elite found their stride in the second period, responding with a goal by Asher Whitt (#63), assisted by Wellesley Bozoian (#24). The third period saw Whitt tie the game, this time aided by Caden Kranenburg (#56) and Luka Vargas (#47). Despite several close calls and impressive saves from both goaltenders—Anthony Ranieri (#21) for Chicago and Braxton Lewis (#33) for Indiana—the score remained 2-2 at the end of regulation.
The shootout added an extra layer of drama. Indiana’s Justin Kujawa (#90) and Whitt both converted their attempts, while Chicago’s Benas Ludavicius (#22) was the lone Fury player to score in the shootout. Lewis sealed the victory for Indiana with a crucial save against Chicago’s Violet McCann (#44).
With Whitt’s standout performance and clutch goaltending from Lewis, the Indiana Elite clinched the championship in thrilling fashion, demonstrating resilience and teamwork under pressure.
