Anaheim Jr Ducks Claim 12U DeBrincat Division Title with Stellar Performance
The Anaheim Jr Ducks delivered a commanding performance to defeat the Chicago Fury 4-2 and secure the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League 12U DeBrincat Division Championship on December 9 at Tittle Brothers Construction Arena. Led by Leo Mikaelian’s (#17) dazzling display, the Jr Ducks captured the title in front of an energized crowd.
The Fury struck first with a goal from Ryan Parks (#87), assisted by Kyle Merten (#9) and Quinn Camer (#43). The Jr Ducks’ Mikaelian wasted no time coming back, scoring with just 12 seconds left in the first tying the game 1-1 heading into the second period.
In the second period, Timofey Purvins (#8) gave the Ducks the lead, set up by Mikaelian and Jayhe Lee (#2). Mikaelian continued his dominant play in the third period, scoring a goal off assists from Talia Hovsepian (#11) and Noah Mahery Moreau (#77).
The Fury managed a late push with a goal from Dean Zuccaro (#91), assisted by Sebastian Contreras (#97), but Anaheim’s defense and goaltending by Christopher Robinson (#13) proved too strong. Robinson turned aside 24 of 26 shots, while the Ducks’ relentless offense outshot the Fury 31-26.
Mikaelian completed the hat trick with an unassisted goal in the closing seconds cemented the Ducks’ victory.
Despite the loss, Chicago’s Dylan Fracassi (#90) showcased a solid effort in goal, making key saves throughout the game. Anaheim’s discipline and Mikaelian’s brilliance propelled them to a well-earned championship, highlighting the talent and tenacity of the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League.
